What Is Communications?

Some examples of Communications are:

Mobile Phones :

mobile phone (also known as a cellular phonecell phone, and a hand phone) is a device that can make and receive telephone calls over a radio link while moving around a wide geographic area. It does so by connecting to a cellular network provided by a mobile phone operator, allowing access to the public telephone network

Advantages:

Smartphones also feature internet access, cameras, music players

Can access the Internet anywhere with a 3G signal

Can make cheaper calls using VoIP services such as Skype

Can enable roaming to receive calls when travelling around the world.

Disadvantages:

Screen size is small and therefore making internet access less user-friendly

Some websites are not designed for mobile use

3G network is slower than broadband internet access at home

Image quality is not as good as a dedicated camera

What is VoIP?

VoIP services convert your voice into a digital signal that travels over the Internet. If you are calling a regular phone number, the signal is converted to a regular telephone signal before it reaches the destination. VoIP can allow you to make a call directly from a computer, a special VoIP phone, or a traditional phone connected to a special adapter. In addition, wireless "hot spots" in locations such as airports, parks, and cafes allow you to connect to the Internet and may enable you to use VoIP service wirelessly.

Advantages:

You only pay for your internet access, many calls are free

You can call other landlines

Digital signal is clearer than analogue phone signal

VoIP software may also allow video calls

Disadvantages:

Must have Internet access

Call quality dependent on quality of internet connection

Email:

This is text messages that may contain files, images, or other attachment sent through a network to a specified individual or group of individualsSome electronic-mail systems are confined to a single computer system or network, but others have gateways to other computer systems, enabling users to send electronic mail anywhere in the world. Companies that are fully computerized make extensive use of e-mail because it is fast, flexible, and reliable.

Advantages:

Can be sent 24 hours a day, no need to leave the house to do so.

Can be sent to multiple recipients using CC Carbon Copy

Copies can be saved in sent items

Can attach files

Can send to anyone with an e-mail address

User would receive it much quicker than ordinary mail

Disadvantages:

Cannot send physical objects

Might not be secure enough to send legal documents when compared to registered post services
